SMSV Bible & Sports Camp 2008
The SMSV Bible and Sports Camp was held at Holy Redeemer Public School from July 7-11. The campers started bright and early at 9:00 am by singing and doing the animations for their theme song "The Great Kingdom Caper" as well as memorizing the introduction to the Orthodox Creed. The days were filled with great fun

such as playing Doctor Dodge Ball, Soccer, Basketball, getting completely and utterly soaked in the water gun games and even walking on a wooden plank in order to cross the river and continue the nature walk. The days were also filled with beautiful quite time where we discussed the theme of "Cracking the Character Code" and learned about important Christian characteristics such as compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, endurance, forgiveness and of course love. When it was 4:00pm and time to go, counselors were told by the parents that their children did not want to go home. It was a very special and blessed week where God's love was always evident and where special bonds formed between campers, between counselors and most of all between campers and counselors. We look forward for next year's camp where we can all meet again and grow in the love and knowledge of God and one another. more photos

Deacons' Spiritual Day

The day started by celebrating the Divine Liturgy followed by an agape meal and a meditation on the life and ministry of St. Stephen the Archdeacon. The deacons then had a Q&A session concerning dogmatic and theological matters and then the day was concluded by voice and harmony lessons offered by a professional vocalist. We thank God for the dedication of our deacons and may God bless their ministry.

The Church would like to congratulate John Rofaiel for his blessed baptism on Saturday July 5th. May the Lord bless his life and grant him joy and prosperity.

Meeting with H.H. Pope Shenouda III
May 31, 2008
The Valley of the Mother of God
“We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.” (Ps 75:1)
Indeed, our hearts rejoice at the love and grace of God which He continuously shows unto us. On May 31st, our beloved father H.H. Pope Shenouda III spent quality time with our congregation listening to our greetings by 15 members who spoke mainly in their mother tongues, giving us a deep spiritual word about making the Church live in us, as well as answering our questions. His Holiness, in his heart felt love, uttered a very unique statement to the church members saying: “I want to be a member in your congregation”. Indeed, this was a historical day which will be cherished in our hearts for a very long time. We thank the Lord for the health of His Holiness and may the Lord keep him for us for many more years to come.

The church of St. Maurice & St. Verena Toronto, Canada
Fr. Pishoy Salama is serving this church which is multicultural in nature. He has organized a class for the catechumens who desire to join the Coptic Church. He has also baptized Roshni, a young lady of Indian heritage, and Dace, an Eastern European woman. Both women share a great love for our Coptic Orthodox Church.
